My friend and I paid a visit to Dongdaemun, where we visited the Dongdaemun Jonghap Market (동대문종합시장). There, you can find pretty much anything your DIY heart desires. We were set on making bejeweled socks. Within seconds, found the vendor who had exactly what we were looking for.
I had initially seen a pair or two of bejeweled socks in an online shop, but they weren't a perfect fit for my style, and they were also on the pricey end (40$). I went to LUFT's newest branch in Jung-gu for a morning coffee and DIY sesh. Quite an amazing way to start the day, don't you think?!
What you need:
- Colorful or sparkly socks
- Gems, buttons, pompoms, etc
- Sewing needle and string
TIP1: If sewing for a few minutes is just too much too handle, maybe try hot-gluing them to your socks. My boyfriend also gave me the genius idea to use velcro! That way it'll be a lot easier to throw them in the laundry machine. I'm going to have to hand-wash these every-time I wear them, which will be a little bit of a pain.
TIP2: I bought these gorgeous gems at an accessories/DIY-type market, but they don't typically have those kinds of markets in Western countries. Either way, the gems were more expensive than I wished them to be.. I think if I was back in Canada doing a similar DIY, I would take the vintage route!
